Our January 14th meeting was well attended. Mart opened at 10:30AM and by 11:00 we had a full house. The Boy’s and Girl’s Club had a banquet the night before so the 50 MART tables and 10 silent auction tables were arranged a little different than usual. President Frank Keillor opened the Membership meeting with announcements of Regionals. etc. Also that a Board Meeting would follow the Membership meeting.
Chapter Officers for 2007 remain as for 2006; Frank Keillor, President, Ellie McMechan, Vice-President; Price Russ as Secretary; and Don Day , Treasurer.
Our Speaker was Member Paul Shibata of Willets, California . Paul is a WOSTEP trained watchmaker doing “trade work” from his shop. Paul had done work for a customer who’s Grandfather had worked for Elgin Watch Company and had been the cartoonist for the Company in-house newsletter. Paul was able to re-produce a number of copies of “Watch World” from 1923 to 1928. Paul had digitize these newsletters and then was able to project the cartoons on to a screen, for the Membership to see and enjoy. The cartoons were about employees, there actions on and off the job. While we didn’t know the details of the individuals, the cartoons were enjoyable and different.
